    ry the following:

      • Make sure your product is turned on and securely connected to your computer or USB hub.
      • If your product is connected to a USB hub, make sure it's connected to a first tier hub (the hub closest to the computer) that has its own A/C adapter when more than one hub is connected to the computer.
      • Restart your computer.
      • Make sure JOYUSING Scan is set up correctly for your connection type by following these steps:
        1. Make sure the product is turned on.
        2. Do one of the following:
          • Windows 8.x: Navigate to the Apps screen, then select JOYUSING Scan Settings.
          • Windows (other versions): Click Start or  and select Programs or All Programs. Select JOYUSING Scan > JOYUSING Scan Settings.

        4. Make sure the correct scanner is selected.
        5. Do one of the following:
          • If the product is connected to your computer with a USB cable, make sure the Connection setting is set to Local, then skip the remaining steps.
          • If the product is set up on a network, make sure the Connection setting is set to Network and your scanner appears under Network Scanner Address with the correct IP address. If these settings are correct, skip the remaining steps. If the IP address for your product does not appear, go to the next step.
  • What security measures does JOYUSING recommend for its network products?

To help deter unauthorized access to your product over a network, you should protect your network environment using appropriate security measures.

Security measures such as these can help deter threats such as loss of user data, use of telephone and fax lines, and other intrusions:

      • Enable security on your wireless LAN if your product supports a wireless connection

Enable the appropriate security on the wireless LAN you plan to use with your product. Network security such as a network password can deter interception of traffic over the wireless LAN. Your router may already have a default password enabled by your Internet service provider (ISP). See your ISP and router documentation for instructions on how to change the default password and better secure your network.

      • Connect your product only to a network protected by a firewall

Connecting your product directly to the Internet may leave it vulnerable to security threats. Instead, connect it to a router or other network connection protected by a firewall. Your router may already have a firewall set up by your Internet service provider; check with your ISP for confirmation. For best results, set up and use a private IP address for your network connection.

      • Change the default administrator password on your product

If your product has an option to set an administrator password, change the default administrator password to deter access by unauthorized users to personal data stored on your product, such as IDs, passwords, and contact lists.

  • How do I find my SSID and network password?

In most cases, the software installer will automatically set up your wireless connection, so you don't need to know your SSID and password. However, if it cannot determine your SSID or password, you will be prompted to set up your wireless connection manually.

Check your router documentation for this information. Most routers have a default SSID and password that can be modified once the router is set up.

Note: The SSID is the name of the wireless network that is set up on your router or access point.

If you don't know this information, you'll need to contact the manufacturer of your router or the person who set up your network.

  • Where can I find the IP address of my router?

Most wireless routers have a default IP address that can usually be found in the router's documentation.

For more support on your router, contact the manufacturer of your router.

  • I tried to install my product on my Mac with a wireless connection, but the installation failed. What should I do?

Note: This step is needed to install the product's software and complete the Wi-Fi setup. Remember to enable your firewall software after you complete the Wi-Fi setup.

      3. If you're unable to complete the instructions above, contact JOYUSING. Otherwise go to the next section.

  • How do I set default print settings when I print from Windows or my Mac?

    Windows

When you change your print settings from within a program, the changes apply only while you're printing with the program open. If you want to select different settings to use in all your programs, you can change the default print settings in Windows or save a preset of printer options on Mac. Follow the steps below for your operating system.
      1. Do one of the following:

        • Windows 8.x: Navigate to the Apps screen and select Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers. Right-click your printer and select Printing Preferences.

  • I want to enlarge an image that I'm scanning with JOYUSING Scan. How do I obtain the best quality?

If you are going to scan your image to a particular size, such as 8 x 10 inches, you should select the Target Size setting after previewing it but before adjusting your scan area (indicated by the marquee). This sets the scan area to the correct proportions so your image will not be cropped unexpectedly.

Note: If you plan to enlarge your image later in an image-editing program, you need to increase the Resolution setting to obtain a high image quality after enlargement. Increase the resolution by the same amount you will increase the image size. For example, if the resolution is 300 dpi (dots per inch) but you will increase the image size by 200% in an image-editing program, change the Resolution setting to 600 dpi in JOYUSING Scan.

You should resize your image when you're scanning instead of enlarging it later in an image-editing program. You can do this using the Target Size setting in Home or Professional Mode.

  • An area I highlighted with a fluorescent (or neon) marker does not appear in my scan. What should I do?

Try using a non-fluorescent marker. This limitation occurs with a scanner that uses a contact image sensor (CIS). CIS technology cannot detect fluorescent marks accurately, especially yellow marks.

If you need to scan a document with fluorescent marks, we recommend you use a scanner with charge-coupled device (CCD) technology, which can detect fluorescent marks. The following JOYUSING products support CCD technology:

  • How should I prepare my product for storage?

    Caution:
During transportation and storage, follow these guidelines:

If you need to store your product or transport it some distance, prepare it for transportation as described here.
      • Avoid tilting the product, placing it vertically, or turning it upside down; otherwise ink may leak.
      • When storing or transporting an ink bottle after removing its seal, do not tilt the bottle and do not subject it to impacts or temperature changes. Otherwise, ink may leak even if the cap on the ink bottle is tightened securely. Be sure to keep the ink bottle upright when tightening the cap, and take measures to prevent ink from leaking when transporting the ink bottles.
